WHO and UPRA Strengthen Collaboration to Advance Public Health in Angola

14 November 2024 – The World Health Organization (WHO) interim Representative in Angola, Dr. Zabulon Yoti, paid an official visit to the Universidade Privada de Angola (UPRA) and was received by Rector Dr. Silvana Rocha da Silveira. The visit provided an opportunity for WHO to gain a deeper understanding of the university’s contributions to community and public health, as well as its extracurricular health initiatives. Dr. Yoti also toured the site of UPRA including its upcoming teaching hospital.

On October 18, the World Health Organization (WHO) had the honor of receiving a group of 20 students from the Venâncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, in an effort to strengthen Angola's presence at the United Nations and increase the visibility of the United Nations' actions in Angola. WHO and UNHCR collaborate to Strengthen Health Services for Refugees in Lunda Norte

In a joint mission with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an important assessment of health services in refugee settlement in Lunda Norte province, Angola, from 30 September to 2 October. This mission aimed to evaluate the quality and collaboration of health services provided at the Lôvua Refugee Settlement, a home to thousands of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since 2017.

On Thursday, 11 September 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the University of Rainha Njinga A Mbande, located in the province of Malanje.
